Students will use the skills learned in the dance class in their educational, personal and professional aspects of life. Through the art of dance, we can add to the depth of our community by sharing our performances and providing a place where our community is welcome.
Karen Johnson - Karen is a native of Sanpete County. She grew up in Ephriam and began dancing at a young age. Around the age of 8she began takin ballet and fell in love with it! She studied ballet all through high school as well as performed on the Manti High School's drill team and cheer squad. After high school, Karen pursued her dream and studied dance in college. While in school, she had the opportunity to perform all over the Western United Stated. She graduated from SUU with a degree in Dance Performance. After completing her degree Karen had many opportunities to teach dance throughout Utah. For the past 7 year, Karen has spent most of her time teaching dance at Snow College and directing the Badgerttes dance team. Karen recently graduated with her masters degree in Arts Administration from SUU. She is excited for the opportunity to teach at CUDA!
Julie Reese - At very young age Julies parents put her in several dance classes. She took clogging, Jazz, hip Hop, Ballet and gymnastics. For years she competed all over the state and her love for dance grew! In high school she was captain of the drill team and loved that experience. She was also one of three in her area to picked to travel to Rome to continue her dance education and perform there. For the past several years she has been teaching, choregraphing and judging at several studios throughout the area. She is extremely passionate about technique and make sure everything is executed properly. Her love for dance comes not only because it gives students a passion but because so many life lesson are taught on the dance floor!
Whitney Hill - After being North Sanpete high school dance sterling scholar she attended CEU on a full scholarship where she was a member of the golden eagle dance team and soloist fir the dance ensemble. She finished her bachelors degree at Weber State while performing with the orchesis dance company ad serving as Miss Weber County 2012. After graduation came an LDS mission, teaching in Thailand and most importantly marrying the man of her dreams. Last year she got the incredible opportunity to be part of the dance team for the Utah American indoor football league. She is currently in her 5th season with kinuko modern dance company and most recently had the opportunity to be in a promotional video for sonnet James Clothing. Whitney considers herself the frosty the snowman of CUDA... She nay leave but she will always be back again someday! CUDA is where Whitney received the majority of her pre-collegiate dance training and she knows it is the right time to be back teaching!
